Runaway Consumerism

What do you think of the comic strips above? Is it an accurate portrayal of today's society?

Into the Wild

Hi my class.

First, it's important to say: I'm missing everybody (actually, I'm not missing Guilherme! =P~)
Hum... After that: the real purpose of this post: yesterday I saw a very very (...) nice film.

It's a drama and the name is "Into the Wild" (Na Natureza Selvagem, in Portuguese), and it's about a boy who finished university and decided to go to Alaska, alone, without money or documents.

This story is real and very moving!

During the film I thought about things like: freedom, money, real feelings, family, thoughts and things that are important!

Really important and our confusing lives can make us forget.

We are young, actually we're always young! And every time is time to grow up!

We're always looking for things, looking for things that can make us better, make us grow up.

This fantastic production's about a boy that isn’t afraid of facing this challenge: becoming a better person!

Hey! See this film and comment my post! :)

Love, Isabela.

Global Warming Caused by Natural Cycle, not Humans

According to scholars Denis Avery (the Hudson Institute) and Fred Singer (University of Virginia), human activities have little to do with the earth's current warming trend. They claim that global warming and cooling seem to be part of a 1,500-year cycle of moderate temperature swings. "The evidence supporting a 1,500- year cycle is too great to dismiss," said Fred Singer.

What do you think?

Last weekend me and my family traveled to Vassouras wehere we celebrated a "July party".

It was very funny as you can see from our clothes. I was the sheriff (look my hat. LOL) On my hat it is written: 'Anos em Festa' , which is the name of our group. In this photo we can't see the bride and groom. I recommend a madness like this sometimes. It's very good against stress.

Kisses and hugs!

Karate Kid

This post is about my presentation last class when I talked about Karate, in special my experiences with this sport.
The aim of Karate is to be in total control of the muscles in your body so that you can use them with force and accuracy.
I started to play Karate when I was ten or eleven years old and when I was living in Macaé.
Bushido was the name of the academy and my master called Gualberto. The Karate I learned is Goju-Ryu, which means the balance of opposites, of antagonistic and complementary energies. Goju-Ryu teaches you how to act: with calm or energy, speed or smoothness. In short, it is a light style similar to Daniel San’s style.
Before Karate I had practiced swimming, football and judo. I started with the white belt, after the exams I went to yellow, then orange and the last was the blue belt.
While I was living in Macaé I participated in some championships and I won medals and certificates.
I stopped at the blue belt when I moved to Rio and I have never practiced this sport since then.

Being rich does not guarantee happiness

Hi, fellows!!

Angela asked me to post here a shorter version of my last text. So, here you are.

I wrote about money and if you have money you have happiness.
I think money is important, but it's not the solution.
Simple things like a baby's smile doesn't have a price and having friends around you is fantastic!!
Human values are being lost because of money.
In conclusion, if you don't have money, smile. Because you have health, friends, love... When people discover happiness in each other, the world will be better.

That's all folks!!

Kisses and hugs!

Thank you for smoking

This is the trailer from a movie that I saw last week which is named 'Thank you for smoking'.
The movie shows a situation in which Nick Naylor(Aaron Eckhart), who is a lobbyist and works for cigarette companies, has to convince the government and the population of the USA that the cigarettes aren't dangerous for health.
A group of politicians want to put the poison symbol on cigarette packages and he has to convince them there's no reason to do that. With this objective he manipulates information and uses marketing strategies.
His recent fame atracts a lot of attention and after almost he dies and because of his son he might change his opinion.

If you want to know if he changes his mind or convinces people that smoking is good watch the movie!

It's brilliant! ;)

The play: Gloriosa!

Like I promised!
Here is my opinion about "Gloriosa", the play that I saw yesterday!
Hum...In general the drama is about an, if I’m not mistaken, American woman who likes singing. Only likes it, because the truth is that she isn’t a good singer.
A pianist, who works with her, is the narrator and he’s very funny!
Oh! I forgot to tell you: it’s a comedy and Marília Pera is the principal actress, who plays the woman.
The best part of the play is when the housekeeper is on the stage! She is a hilarious Spanish woman who doesn’t speak Portuguese! It’s very crazy when the "singer" and she talk because they can’t understand each other!
Well, sometimes I yawned because it is only this: a woman who thinks she’s a singer, a pianist who knows how terrible she is (first he works with her because he needs the money but later they will be friends and he’ll like her!) and a very crazy housekeeper!

The end?!I’m sorry but I can’t write it, of course! ;]
